Congrats to HRC Professional on Recent Accomplishment

HRC Engineers is pleased to share that Project Engineer Javier Méndez’-Monroy Master’s thesis in Civil Engineering, completed at Mississippi State University, has been published. The thesis, titled "Uncertainty Analysis for Runoff, Crop Yield, Sediment, and Nutrient Loads in the Mississippi Delta Region Using APEX" investigates impact of input data uncertainty—specifically climate, soil, and management variables—on the performance of the APEX (v1501) model in simulating runoff, crop yield, sediment, total phosphorus, and nitrogen loads in agricultural fields.

The findings highlight the viability of using surrogate data (e.g., regional weather, predominant soil types, and estimated irrigation schedules) when in situ data is limited. These insights are intended to support more robust and informed hydrologic modeling in data-scarce agricultural landscapes.

Javier, an Agricultural Engineer with dual master’s degrees and more than a decade of professional experience across the U.S. and Colombia, joined HRC Engineers in 2022. He specializes in design and analysis of stormwater management systems, hydrologic modeling, and compliance with local and federal regulations.

“The entire HRC team congratulates Javier on this exceptional achievement,” said HRC Vice President Darryl D. Ray, RLA—and fellow Mississippi State grad. “We’re proud to have this bilingual, committed professional working on our clients’ behalf to drive development success.”
