HRC—Civil Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Landscape Architects—located in Douglasville, GA (Metro-Atlanta), has an opening for a Party Chief – Field Surveyor in our Surveying Department.

Preferred Knowledge: Candidate should possess experience in or a desire to be involved in performing assignments designed to develop professional land surveying work, knowledge, and abilities. Work requires application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related land surveying tasks. The candidate will participate as party chief of a field crew team and perform land surveying duties in the surveying of boundary, topographic, ALTA, structures and facilities, such as follows: commercial site development, single-family and multi-family communities, land disturbance activity permitting, sporting club and resort communities, construction layout, erosion and sediment control, and storm water management issues.

Skills Required:

  • Property research
  • Field data collection using Trimble robotic total station, GPS, and survey controller using Trimble access software
  • Locate property and survey monuments using record deeds and surveys
  • Perform topographic surveys incorporating break lines
  • Perform COGO functions such as inverse, resection, stake to line, translate and rotate in the field
  • Perform staking calculations for construction layout of commercial and residential projects

Skills Required: Strong Work Ethic, Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings

HRC is currently seeking a Pre-Construction/Post-Construction Survey Team Leader to effectively manage all phases of survey project delivery including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and close-out. This position reports to the Pre-Construction/Post-Construction Survey

Division Lead and has supervisory responsibilities for HRC staff within the Pre-Construction/Post-Construction Survey Department. The Pre-Construction/Post-Construction Survey Team Leader is expected to provide feedback to management on performance of each of the department team members and comprehensively on the Survey Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing, planning, and managing the daily tasks and operations of the team, including scheduling, contracts, mentoring, budgeting and profitability/budget review
  • Client relationship and coordinating, scheduling, and developing and supporting the Project Management Plan (PMP)
  • Evaluating the division’s performance and identifying areas of improvement
  • Providing technical direction and professional support to division personnel, including staying current with new technologies
  • Ensuring that staff members comply with the policies and procedures of the
    division
  • Assisting with employee recruitment, as well as overseeing the onboarding process and training/mentoring of new division staff members, and divisional advocate
  • Reviewing office operations and reporting any issues to senior management
  • Working with the HR department to handle all inter-division disputes and conflicts

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Survey, Engineering, Science, or related technical field or equivalent combination of experience and education required
  • Business degree is a plus
  • Certifications or registrations as mandated by profession
  • Professional registration/licensure required
  • Knowledge of the various software programs used by the survey division (Minimum 2 years Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Trimble Survey, Field to Fit, Lidar/Drone post processes experience preferred)
  • Must have a minimum of 1-3 years as a RLS or equivalent experience
  • Management Experience of at least 3 years supervising 10-15 team members
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive survey experience
  • Knowledge of the market area
  • GDOT survey procedures and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team

HRC is currently seeking a Survey CAD Technician II to assist the Survey Team Leads in all phases of drafting survey projects including sheet set up, importing field work, error recognition, and fixing; as well as running field to finish on field work and completing final CAD drawings. This position reports to the Survey Team Leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing, planning, and managing CAD drawings of assigned field projects
  • Ability to use Carlson Survey Software and AutoCAD Civil 3D

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Must have 3-5 years as a Survey CAD Technician experience or equivalent
    • Minimum 2 years progressive survey experience
    • Reviewing plans for legibility and correctness
    • Understanding budgets
    • Knowledge of engineering science, math, geography and technology
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work as a part of a team to assist Survey Team Leads
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Ability to take initiative
    • Critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Basic computer skills and able to learn relevant job-related software
