HRC’s Brian Howell Becomes a Registered Landscape Architect
A supportive culture helps its professionals—and the firm—succeed
Douglasville, GA (July 3, 2019) – HRC announced today that Brian Howell has taken the final step toward becoming a registered landscape architect. The 2015 Mississippi State University graduate and HRC apprentice passed the Landscape Architectural Registration Exam (LARE) required to be professionally licensed.
“This has been a goal of mine since 2009 when I started college,” the Mississippi native said. Howell is looking forward to adding RLA (Registered Landscape Architect) behind his name, a designation demonstrating his determination to attain required skills. In Georgia, candidates must apprentice for two years, as well as pass the rigorous examination.
Howell credits Darryl Ray RLA, vice president of the Douglasville civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture firm, with his ability to accomplish this professional milestone. “Darryl was a great mentor,” he said. Ray’s teaching skills, as well as his willingness to expose Howell to all aspects of the business, made a difference. “I was fortunate to be able to collaborate with the firm’s civil engineers, and to be given increasing client management responsibilities—both of which helped me learn and grow.”
“All of HRC’s principals are hands-on. They give younger professionals the opportunity to work closely with them so we gain more knowledge faster,” said Howell.
Several members of the HRC team celebrated Brian’s accomplishment by taking him to one of the local eating establishments and toasting to his achievement. Later that evening Brian was joined by his wife, Katie, in a fine dining experience to commemorate the occasion.
